Enjoy a FantasticDive to search for, amongst other reef fishes, our famous ragged tooth sharks, enormous brindle bass (grouper), elusive frog fish, numerous types of nudibranchs, with the occasional meeting of turtles, rays and dolphins.
As an optional extra, and if we have time, we can arrange for our famous Tiger Shark Dive – this is where we will encounter up to 9 sharks whilst in the water, without cages, and you will be able to film them close up and personal.
Aliwal Shoal has been rated one of the top 10 dive sites of the world.

1) Luxury Accommoation: 5 minutes walk from Meridian Dive Centre
Set back from the road in tranquil grounds the creatively renovated building offers 2 en-suite rooms (twin and double) and 2 en-suite family room, all finished to a high quality standard. All rooms have their own entrance from the main entrance hallway, private patio area, fans and heated bathrooms. Fridges, TV (Mnet), hairdryers, tea/coffee making facilities are in all rooms, with movies available on request. Secure parking is provided. Each room has an independent alarm system, coupled with the added security of staff being onsite 24 hours a day, you really can sit back and relax. Take advantage of the sub-tropical climate by dining 'al fresco' under the cover of a large thatched gazebo that forms the centrepiece for the garden. A large C shaped 13m swimming pool, which has a deep end of 3m, which is ideal for all diving enthusiasts, hugs the gazebo. Pool loungers are provided for you to sit by the pool and soak up the Durban sunshine. The underwater pool lighting and subtle garden lights provide a truly tropical island atmosphere to the place after dark. Your host Sonia ensures a varied breakfast choice is provided and will ensure special requirements are catered for.

2) Upmarket Accommodation: 2 minutes walk from Meridian Dive Centre.
All rooms are en-suite (two have a bath & the other have showers), all rooms have TV’s, coffee & tea facilities and stocked bar fridge's, safes, linen, bath towels provided (bring own beach & swimming pool towels). Rooms have both ceiling and free standing fans.
There is a swimming pool & braai facilities available. All rooms have their own entrances and sea views.

3) Self catering lodge: 2 minutes walk from Meridian Dive Centre
Tastefully decorated with sea views, pool and outside braai area
The two cottages each with bathrooms en-suite(shower and bath) have their own lounge and open plan kitchen area. Each kitchen is fully equipped with stove, fridge/freezer, microwave oven, cutlery and crockery. Tea, coffee, milk and sugar are also supplied. The lounges are decorated in a tasteful and peaceful manner each with its own TV set. The lounge areas lead off onto patios where you can utilize your private braai/barbeque area while you relax, with an ocean view.
The main lodge consists of 3 bedrooms, two bathrooms, (shower and bath) lounge, dining room and fully equipped kitchen also with a lovely outside covered patio area. The two main bedrooms and the lounge have a stunning view of the Indian Ocean where you can see whales breaching and schools of dolphins playing.

Diving:
Weekday launch times (summer and winter) 8 am and 11 am
Weekend launch times: Summer 6 am, 8 am, 10 am and 12 am wind permitting, and Winter its an hour later. Meet at Meridian Dive one hour before the launch time, kit up and hire any equipment required. Enjoy a short vehicle ride down to the river mouth for the exciting surf launch on a zodiac. The zodiac takes a maximum of 11 divers, including the divemaster/instructor to lead the dive, plus the skipper who has loads of daily experience.
Payment:
Electronic transfer into Nedbank Account is preferred to confirm the booking, otherwise we can get your credit cards details to confirm the dive/accommodation, then on arrival CASH can be given, for the dives/kit hire, and you are welcome to pay credit card for the accommodation. Cancellation Policy: please cancel at least 24 hours in advance to get a refund or to defer. No refunds will be given, once you have confirmed your dives, that is, for last minute seasickness, colds, hangovers or headaches! Enjoy!

Private game park only one hour away through the Umkomazi Valley, well stocked with rhino, giraffe, zebra, eland, bucks – enjoy close up and personal on the bikes, have your own pick nick by the river.
